Are you ready for Christmas? On Christmas Eve my family and I enjoy staying up late to bake cookies, drink hot cocoa with extra whipped cream, and watching 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' with the children. These traditions are fun and we truly enjoy them. Over the last year, I have become more open and aware of how we as a people have been groomed for centuries to celebrate different holidays. We do indeed believe in tradition and although we did not grow up with several family traditions, continuing forward, we are determined to create our own.

In this New Year, we plan to do a little more diving into our roots to find out who we truly are and where we come from. We want to be able to pass down to our children our own beliefs, legends, and customs. We will be determined to demonstrate more empowered ways of thinking, traditional recipes that our children can inherit, and establish patterns of cultural beliefs and practices.

Traditions can be tricky these days. Holidays can become very commercialized and endanger those true beliefs and traditions that we hold dear. Over time it's pretty difficult to capture and remember the true meaning of the holidays that we celebrate annually. Traditions are a necessity because they can be some of the pillars of our family's foundation. In this New Year I hope to see more of you go back to the basics and find out who you are and shape and create your own traditions.

Speaking of traditions...do you believe in the fashion rule about "no white after Labor Day"? I certainly don't believe in that rule. As you can see in this look I am wearing white pants, and it's very much after Labor Day! Our featured Goodwill find consisted of this white button down shirt and metallic spotted cardigan. I decided to pair this look with just enough glamor that was finished with a faux fur scarf and a gold brooch along with other accessories. Ready for a Merry Glitzmas!
